"I see myself in Austronesia." Austronesian Industrial Forum Restaurants Introduction
Austronesia is a seemingly distant yet close word, perhaps due to the distant migration on the seas but also to the close relation of languages and legends. We want to humbly learn and understand the food and dietary development through this opportunity. Crafting and ecotrouism seem to be thriving on the southern tip of Taiwan, indigenous traditional dietary culture has evolved to similar “traditional indigenous style meals” through training provided through projects in the past. Until recently, young generations returned to their homelands due to various reasons and started small scale kitchens or restaurants to fulfill their dreams of culinary art.
What’s different from the past is that behind this diverse micro-economy, the cooks upholding the relation between farming and diet rather focus more on the disappearance of farm produce, how to blend the traditional ingredients into contemporary cooking and enforce promotion. Therefore, The Small Farmers’ Dinning Table calls forth their cooperative companions due to this ideal.
We want to start from Austronesia to see the similarities and differences within ourselves, and gather more power and strength with the humble farmers in guarding our lands with food and tell the tales of thousands of years with cooking.
